There are hundreds, if not thousands, of examples of iconic images from contemporary and classic artists’ work, that could be translated into epic adventure stories that the world would enjoy. But Hollywood is too busy searching for the next roman numeral. One prime example is Frank Frazetta’s Death Dealer character. That needs a “Lord of the Rings”-style treatment.

Agreed, also anything from Boris Vallejo and Julie Bell – they have such a wonderful narrative feel.

Yes, along with someone like George Grie. He has this piece called the Flying Dutchman that’s incredible.

Any thoughts on the news of Robert Rodriguez attempting a remake of Frank Frazetta and Ralph Bakshi’s Fire And Ice?

@targete commented a fantastic idea on a blog post I wrote. SyFy is producing a new creature film and allowing fans to vote on creature designs and other aspects of the movie. He suggested SyFy open up the actual creature design phase as an art contest, and let fans select from entered designs. Fans could select between these artists, as well as their own in-house creations. I think we’re getting together a great batch of qualified individuals up for the challenge right here at MyFantasyArt.com.

Someone on the inside should run it up a flagpole and see if anyone salutes. Great idea J.P.!

@nilskidoo Regarding the comment on Robert Rodriguez nabbing rights to Frank Frazetta and Ralph Bakshi’s Fire And Ice. All of Rodriguez’s comments on the project indicate he will take great care to produce something Frazetta and Bakshi, as well as core fans, would be proud of. I’ll reserve judgement until after watching Predators.
