Dungeon Defenders is one of the fastest selling downloadable games of all time. Tony Puryear is the first African American screenwriter to write a $100 million summer movie blockbuster. In La Luna, tonight is the very first time his Papa and Grandpa are taking him to work. In an old wooden boat they row far out to sea, and with no land in sight, they stop and wait.  A big surprise awaits the little boy as he discovers his family’s most unusual line of work. Should he follow the example of his Papa, or his Grandpa? Will he be able to find his own way in the midst of their conflicting opinions and timeworn traditions?

The 7 minute short film was directed by Enrico Casarosa, and will be released on June 22, 2012.

Based on Robert Kirkman’s groundbreaking comic book series, The Walking Dead Game is an episodic Adventure Horror game series set during the same apocalyptic period witnessed by Sheriff Rick Grimes. Telling the story of a new group of survivors as they struggle to flee the horror of Atlanta and the surrounding communities consumed by the undead, The Walking Dead offers players the chance to experience the very first days of the apocalypse, meeting people and participating in events that intersect with the story seen in the comic books.

Playing Dead is an online talk show that takes fans behind the scenes to reveal what has gone into making the game. Hosted by AJ LoCascio (the voice of Marty McFly in Telltale’s Back to the Future: The Game series), the nine-part show will feature guests including The Walking Dead creator/writer Robert Kirkman and The Book of Eli screenwriter Gary Whitta, consultant for the game.

After a 24-hour period of exclusivity on the official website, Playing Dead will also be available to watch on YouTube, iTunes and soon after, other online outlets including Xbox LIVE and PlayStation Network.

“Collaborating with Telltale on The Walking Dead continues to be a fantastic process. They understand the world and the characters that I created and what it takes to make a game out of them. What’s really exciting is that they’re telling a new story with new characters, so you’ll get to see the same world Rick Grimes did, but now from a different point of view,” said The Walking Dead creator Robert Kirkman. “Playing Dead is going to be an awesome way for fans to learn about the game and how it was made. The Walking Dead is a five part episodic Adventure Horror game that will be available for digital download beginning in spring of 2012 for all major gaming platforms.

“I conceived of Week in Hell as a way to break on through to the other (artistic) side by drawing beyond the limits of endurance,” said Crabapple. “I never imagined that so many people would want to help me do it. While covering the room in drawings, I thought I was pro until I collapsed at the end of one 20-foot wall. The room killed me a bit, but I killed it a bit, too.”

Bringing together the best elements of tower defense and action-RPG progression, it allows players to team up and fight across 15 unique maps, 30 challenges and four difficulty settings in all of the game’s loot-raiding, spell-casting, level-up stacking glory. Players control one of four distinct heroes in an epic bid to fight back an ancient evil. Each character comes with special functions, and players can create and customize/upgrade an armory of weapons and equipment.

Slated for release in late June of this year, the meticulously painted sculpture measures approximately 8 inches tall and 5 inches in width. It is strictly limited to only 950 hand-numbered copies for worldwide distribution. It will be packaged in a full-color collectible box, with a certificate of authenticity inserted to certify it for collectors.

According to Dark Horse Deluxe, Camilla d’Errico supervised every aspect of the sculpting and paint application as the piece took shape, providing additional reference, commentary, and color notes throughout the prototyping process.

The painting No Ordinary Love was included in the Dark Horse art book of d’Errico’s work, Femina and Fauna, which has gone into multiple printings and can be found in a diverse array of retail venues, such as bookstores, art galleries, pop-culture and designer-toy emporiums, and comic shops. A second hardcover collection of Camilla d’Errico’s paintings, titled Helmetgirls, is scheduled for publication by Dark Horse this July.

Dark Horse will display No Ordinary Love to the trade for the first time at its booth during International Toy Fair, at Jacob Javits Center in New York, from February 12–15, 2012.

Each statue is signed by Spawn creator Todd McFarlane, and will be based on classic artwork from Spawn comic issue #1. This Spawn statue is limited to 600 pieces and each is individually numbered. As an added bonus, every statue also includes a free Lithograph of the artwork the statue was based on.

This limited-edition Statue stands 13.5 inches tall and will sell for $185 with free Shipping. The Spawn: 20th Anniversary is planned to ship July 2012.

Tony Puryear wrote the 1996 Arnold Schwarzenegger smash hit Eraser, becoming the first African American screenwriter to pen a $100 million summer blockbuster. Since that time, he’s written action and sci-fi scripts for a who’s who of Hollywood A listers, from Will Smith to Mel Gibson to Jerry Bruckheimer, and adapted storied sci-fi properties like Fahrenheit 451 and Buck Rogers for the big screen. Now Puryear brings his writing and art talents to the world of graphic novels, with Concrete Park for Dark Horse Presents. Concrete Park, Tony Puryear’s first comics project, appears in Dark Horse Presents #8 from Dark Horse Comics.

“Concrete Park is a sprawling epic,” Puryear says. “It’s the sci-fi story I’ve been waiting to tell. It’s a perfect fit with Dark Horse Presents, the legendary anthology comic that served as a launch pad for innovative work by the biggest names in comics, including Frank Miller (Sin City, 300) and Mike Mignola (Hellboy). Concrete Park is a dark and provocative near-future story. It takes place in a turbulent mega-city on a distant desert planet (think Cairo or Rio in space). Young human exiles from Earth must fight to make a new world there. They are young, violent and ten billion miles from home. In its ambitious scope, it resembles nothing so much as George R. R. Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire series, but with favelas and aliens, cops and cyborgs, ghettos and gangs, instead of castles and armies.

Concrete Park was co-created by Puryear and his wife, actress Erika Alexander (Living Single, Déjà Vu), and her brother, writer Robert Alexander, with Puryear also handling the art chores on the book.

Tony Puryear is the first African American screenwriter to write a $100 million summer movie blockbuster. His 1996 hit Eraser catapulted him into a career writing pictures for A listers Jerry Bruckheimer (Buck Rogers), Will Smith, and Oliver Stone. Puryear’s adaptation of the Ray Bradbury classic Fahrenheit 451 for Oscar-winning director Mel Gibson has circulated in Hollywood for years as a legendary unproduced script. His latest script is Lady Scarface for the new RKO Pictures.

A talented artist and designer, Puryear was recently honored when his official campaign poster for Hillary Clinton’s historic 2008 presidential run was added to the permanent collection of the Smithsonian Institution’s National Portrait Gallery.

Along with Tony Puryear, other writers and artists featured in Dark Horse Presents #8 include John Arcudi, Brian Wood, Howard Chaykin, Neal Adams, Andi Watson, Al Gordon, MJ Butler and Beau Smith, along with artists Duncan Fegredo (who drew the cover), Geof Darrow, Kristian Donaldson, Thomas Yeates, Mark Wheatley and Eduardo Barreto.

Walt Disney Studios’ Wreck-It Ralph, directed by Rich Moore (episodes of Futurama and The Simpsons), centers on the bad guy character in a classic game who longs to be a hero. The character brings trouble to his entire arcade after sneaking into a new first-person shooter game and unleashing a deadly enemy.

The film hits theaters on November 12, 2012, featuring the voices of John C. Reilly, Jane Lynch, Jack McBrayer, Sarah Silverman and Jamie Elman.

DC Entertainment worked with leading brand consulting and design firm Landor Associates to develop the new identity, meant to create a visual connection among the company, its three brands DC Comics, Vertigo and MAD, along with its vast array of properties. The design of the new DC Entertainment identity uses a peel effect, with the D strategically placed over the C with the upper right-hand portion of the D peeling back to unveil the hidden C – symbolizing the duality of the iconic characters that are present within DC Entertainment’s portfolio.

The new brand identity will come to life across all consumer touch points in order to create a clear and consistent message in support of DC Entertainment. The new identity will begin to appear on comic books and graphic novels as well as new websites in March. Consumers will also see the new identity rolled out over time on other DC Entertainment products from Warner Bros. including film, television, interactive games and merchandise.

“We believe our new brand identity will strongly resonate with our loyal fans who will want to proudly express their affinity for DC Entertainment and their passion for their favorite stories and characters, this new look allows them to easily do this. In addition we were excited to update our identity, it’s not often a company gets to revisit something as important as its brand and we took the opportunity to make sure it represented the multi-media business we set out to build with the formation of DC Entertainment,” said DC Entertainment’s Amit Desai.

The iconic characters of course, include Rorschach, Comedian, Dr. Manhattan, Nite Owl, Ozymandias, Silk Spectre, and the 1940s superteam The Minutemen. Each will be featured in stories from noted comics creators including the previously mentioned J. Michael Straczynski, Brian Azzarello, Darwyn Cooke, Adam Hughes, Andy Kubert and Joe Kubert, among others.

Watchmen is the top-selling graphic novel of all time and was part of a wave of comics in the 1980s that redefined the genre. The work has remained untouched, never integrated into the larger DC Comics universe, due partially to the reverence by fanboys and partially to Moore’s insistence that it is a singular vision. Moore came out against the 2009 movie adaptation directed by Zack Snyder.

According to the report, DC, which owns the characters, insists that enough time has passed to explore new stories featuring the Watchmen. The company has also enlisted the blessing of Watchmen original artist Dave Gibbons, with hopes of appeasing most comics fans, and gaining wider acceptance of the Before Watchmen project.

“It’s our responsibility as publishers to find new ways to keep all of our characters relevant,” said DC Entertainment co-publishers Dan DiDio and Jim Lee in a statement. “After twenty five years, the Watchmen are classic characters whose time has come for new stories to be told.”

Straczynski, known as the co-creator of the sci-fi show Babylon 5, as well as a writer of Superman and Spider-Man stories, will pen the four-issue Nite Owl series, which includes art by Andy and Joe Kubert, along with the four-issue Dr. Manhattan, with art by Hughes.
